Here’s a very simple but complete routine to manage your checkbook (or savings account, money market, etc.).

It’s a spreadsheet process. So, if you know Excel or any other spreadsheet routine, you’ll find Checkbook Keeper
very easy to use and maintain.

I use this every day to assure that my checkbook and bank are in balance.

Following is a screen shot and description:

The Header line will appear at the top as you scroll.

• Date of Entry.
• Check Number or Type or purpose of Entry. This is a ‘type ahead’ field. I use POS for point of sale; DEP for deposit; W/D for withdrawal; Bill Pay for a payment by my bank. You, of course, can use whatever you’d like.
• Description/reason for Entry. This is a ‘type ahead’ field.
• Payment Amount. No need to enter the dollar sign.
• Cleared? Enter a ‘y’ when entry (payment or deposit) clears in your bank. The field will turn yellow and the Bank Balance will be automatically updated.
• Deposit Amount. No need to enter the dollar sign.
• Book Balance automatically calculated and is the cleared and uncleared amount in your checkbook.
• Bank Balance is the cleared amount and is automatically updated when you place a ‘y’ in the Cleared? Field. This is the amount you use when reconciling your bank statement to your Checkbook Keeper.

To add more rows, highlight the fields in the last blank row and then do a copy. Highlight the fields in a few of following empty rows and then do a paste. All of the formats and formulas will have been copied to the new rows.

Tip: Be sure to keep a blank row at the bottom to use as the copy source for new rows to be added (pasted).

You do NOT need to be a PayPal member to buy Checkbook Keeper. When you click the 'Buy Now' button, you will be able to use your credit/debit card without joining PayPal.
